Check that you are following the early-unlock route
Bandai Namco’s edition guide describes this as a pre-order early unlock across the listed editions. It also says players can obtain the set later without pre-ordering. Those are different acquisition routes: the steps here explain the early reward only.
If you did not receive the bonus with your purchase, the publisher’s statement does not establish that completing the prologue grants it to you. The later chest, vendor or quest location is still unverified here. Check your order’s included bonus before troubleshooting the early grant.
Finish Smoke and Ashes and confirm all three rewards
- Progress the prologue until Smoke and Ashes is active. The recorded journal shows “Go to Laslea with Anca.” Follow the current quest objective through to the village gate.
- Complete the gate interaction and story transition. AllThings.How’s walkthrough identifies clearing the rubble as the trigger. The short video cuts between its journal screen and the reward screen, so it does not show that interaction continuously.
- Look for the THANK YOU! message saying the Wayfarer Armour Set awaits in your inventory.
- Confirm the three item notifications: Chausses of the Sangoran Wayfarer, Boots of the Sangoran Wayfarer and Breastplate of the Sangoran Wayfarer.
The message uses “Wayfarer Armour Set,” while the item names include “Sangoran Wayfarer.” Search for those three individual pieces rather than a single bundle item.
Equip each slot, then check the active set
- Open Inventory and select each named piece to inspect its item panel.
- Use the displayed Equip action on the breastplate, boots and chausses individually.
- Check the equipped chest, footwear and trousers slots rather than relying on the notification alone.
- Check the Day Set / Night Set selection so that you are inspecting the loadout you intend to use.
If a piece is already equipped, the selected item can show an Unequip action. Compare the slot and item name before toggling it again.
It mixes Heavy and Medium armour

These are observed values, not base-stat promises: the recorded pieces are level 5, and their panels warn that lack of proficiency lowers stats by 30%. Your displayed values can therefore differ. Read the Armour field itself; the coin icon at the bottom is not the armour value.
Check Heavy proficiency for the chestpiece and boots, and Medium proficiency for the chausses. If you see the warning, compare the resulting displayed stats against your current gear before replacing it. The armour-proficiency guide explains the penalty and skill requirements.
If the set is missing or looks weaker than expected
- Still in Smoke and Ashes: finish the village-gate objective and wait for the transition and reward handoff.
- Quest finished, no early reward: check whether your order includes the pre-order bonus. Normal later access is not the same entitlement.
- Reward message appeared, but no bundle is visible: search inventory for the three individual names and inspect your equipped slots and current day/night set.
- Armour is lower than a guide’s number: read the item’s level, armour class and proficiency warning. Compare your own panel instead of treating another character’s value as fixed.
If the purchase includes the bonus and the story handoff completed but the named items are still missing, these sources do not establish a reliable recovery procedure. Keep the purchase and quest details when contacting game or platform support; repeatedly buying the game or assuming an unverified reload fix is not part of this route.
Questions before you continue
Is the entire Sangoran Wayfarer set Heavy armour?
No. The recorded breastplate and boots are Heavy, while the chausses are Medium. Check the proficiency condition for each class.
Can I get it without pre-ordering?
Bandai Namco says every player can obtain it later in the game. The exact later location and requirements are not established by the sources used here.
