The Blood of Dawnwalker Bosses
This community roster records 24 entries as of September 5, 2026: 4 listed as Vrakhiri Court story bosses, 19 listed as regional bosses, and 1 unconfirmed candidate. These are source classifications, not an independently verified complete game total. Selected quest encounters below now include attack priorities and rewards; complete strategies and build tests for the full roster remain outside this page’s coverage.
Step-by-step walkthroughs
- Munch-Munch — Read Munch-Munch’s red-skull spray and retreat-to-leap cues, reset your defence, then finish the separate Hostile Takeover nest pickup.
- Mihai — Recognize Mihai’s close-range reappearance, answer his sword indicators and take short counters before continuing the Broken Sword quest.
- Brencis final boss — Recognize Brencis’s two final-fight forms, respond to attack icons and long-range attacks, and identify the transition and combat finish.
Reading Attack Icons
The community combat notes describe a skull icon as an unblockable attack: dodge or move out of range rather than trying to block it. A shield icon indicates an attack that can be blocked or parried. One Fair-difficulty demonstration also shows an orange shield cue for a perfect-parry moment; treat that colour as a setting-specific observation, not a universal indicator for every difficulty or custom setup. These are general icon explanations, not a tested attack-by-attack strategy for every boss. See the combat guide for the basic defence systems.
The Vrakhiri Court
| Boss | Role |
|---|---|
| Brencis | Vrakhiri Court |
| Ambrus | Vrakhiri Court |
| Xanthe | Vrakhiri Court |
| Bakir | Vrakhiri Court |
See the selected Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe quest encounters below, plus the prologue Brencis coverage. A complete final-campaign Brencis strategy remains outside this page's verified scope.
Bosses by Region
| Region | Bosses |
|---|---|
| Briar Sloughs | Chief Jailor, Cerbus the Scornful, Rayko the Incorruptible, Murohn Malformed Monstrosity, Pack Leader, Renegade Bruiser |
| Greifberg Castle | Brencis Grotesque Ascendant |
| Laslea Glen | Pieter (Retired Sellsword), Ravenous Bear, The Forgotten Guardian, Vrakhiri Banneret |
| Maragir Wealds | Great Bog Wurm, The Bloodletter (regional placement uncertain) |
| Rockfalls | Munch-Munch, Essence of Grief |
| Svartrau City | Almshouse Monstrosity, Mihai |
| Svartrau Outskirts | Rurg the Honourable, Ursul the Undefeated |
| Tantari Woods | Leonica (unconfirmed) |
Roster limitations: Leonica remains an unconfirmed candidate because the recorded source formatting did not distinguish a boss from a location. The Bloodletter's placement under Maragir Wealds is also uncertain. Neither note establishes the game's total boss count.
Recommended main-story boss order
The roster above is a catalogue, not progression order. PowerPyx recommends the sequence below for launch-version level ranges. Court activities can still be approached in other orders, so treat these numbers as source guidance rather than mandatory gates or site-tested minimums.
| Step | Boss | Source level | Quest / boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ambrus | 1+ | The Gilded Gauntlet |
| 2 | Bakir | 20+ | The Lunar Game |
| 3 | Xanthe | 25+ | The Cycle of Love |
| Final boundary | Brencis | After all three | A Deal with the Devil |

Court bosses: encounter routes and fight priorities
These selected launch-guide summaries cover Ambrus, Bakir and Xanthe. They describe the named quest encounters, not every place you may meet a character. Story and reward spoilers follow.
Ambrus — The Gilded Gauntlet
After Smoke and Ashes, disrupt Ambrus's Court activities until he is angered, then inspect his challenge in southern Maragir. The duel starts by ringing the bell at night; that action spends two time segments. The optional Iulian route, The Bittersweet Toast, can poison Ambrus, but its preparation and deadline are separate from simply attending the duel.
- Spinning teleport slash: retreat with a backward dodge. For the straight upward slash after a non-spinning teleport, dodge sideways.
- Advancing sword flurry: keep creating distance; a single dodge may not clear the whole sequence.
- Scarlet Shield: when the diamond shield indicator appears and his health bar greys out, stop hitting him. Attacks heal him during this state.
- Late teleport flurry: prioritise defence until his normal pattern returns.
Draining him after victory grants Scarlet Shield, or improves it if already acquired. PowerPyx: Ambrus route, attack tells and reward.
Bakir — The Lunar Game
Anger Bakir through Court activities, then meet Farkas at Lunar Manor in the afternoon. Collect maze equipment while disguised, using sword attacks and Swordmastery. Provoking Bakir during the opening speech skips that preparation and starts a group fight.
Winning the maze is not the last commitment: removing your mask during the prize exchange also triggers combat with his henchmen. To reach the treasure room with Bakir alone, follow this dialogue path.
Prize dialogue: route to the treasure room
In the yellow choices, refuse to remove the mask; agree positively; toast; wish friendship and good fortune; say you want to die fighting; then request your reward. If contestants survived, say you thought he might want to eat them later. White dialogue choices can vary.
In combat, dodge blood lines sideways. Stay back and keep dodging through bird volleys before responding to his punches.
After victory, choose an outright kill or drain him for Shadowstorm. Check body loot; armour eligibility differs between the source's summary and detailed account. PowerPyx: The Lunar Game.
Xanthe — The Cycle of Love
After angering Xanthe, accept the soldiers' request and their lantern, then travel to Howling Keep in the south. Place the lantern at the entrance statue. Inside, blue lanterns on statues remove nearby red-vine barriers; keep a doorway supplied before moving its other lantern.
- Dodge out of ground-area magic. Her red-tentacle strikes can be blocked from left, right or above.
- Deplete the yellow bar to expose the white health bar.
- At the marked health thresholds, destroy the summoned blood orbs quickly: leaving them intact lets her recover health.
Defeating her leads to a choice: cooperate with her or kill her. Taking her blood grants Blood Surge; cooperation means forgoing that immediate drain. This is the mansion route. It should not be read as a claim that every Xanthe encounter needs these prerequisites. PowerPyx: The Cycle of Love.
The Forgotten Guardian — a prologue example
Equip your best found gear before the ruins' exit hall. Dodge when the twin swords glow. Perfect-block ordinary attacks, counter once, then defend again. Loot the Undead Warrior's sword afterward. See the Deep Down route and outcomes. PowerPyx: Deep Down.
The linked Brencis page is a selected scoped route; complete final-campaign coverage, the remaining regional roster and build-specific damage optimisation still need complete verification. The Munch-Munch and Mihai pages are likewise scoped routes, not full-roster coverage. Use the combat guide for shared defensive systems.
Two missing encounters worth preparing for
These are launch-guide summaries, not fights reproduced by this site. The Brencis section covers the prologue encounter and its immediate transition; it is not a complete final-campaign strategy. The Ravenous Bear section separates the first Laslea fight from the later Bear Trouble activity.
Brencis in the prologue: losing is the normal route
At the end of the prologue, the story expects Coen to lose to Brencis. PowerPyx records that losing advances the story, so a defeat here is not a failed run or a reason to reload. PowerPyx: Bad Blood.
If you deliberately try to win the first stage, Sean Martin's PC Gamer report recommends learning Perfect Block and dodge timing first. He used fast vampire-claw attacks, prioritised damage upgrades, and used Shadow Step to pass to the other side of unblockable attacks and flurries. This is an optional challenge, not the preparation baseline for continuing the campaign.
Winning that first stage leads into Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant. The guide reports no quicksave between attempts, very low first-day damage and increasingly difficult later health phases. PowerPyx records the Realmwalker trophy and a view of Brencis's true form for winning the opening fight. These sources do not establish a complete final-campaign move list here. PC Gamer: can you beat Brencis in the prologue?
Ravenous Bear: parry the ordinary attacks, sidestep the red skull
The bear near Laslea is a useful early equipment check. PC Gamer recommends completing Deep Down first for the Undead Warrior's Sword if the fight is taking too long.
- Normal swipes and jumps: use directional blocks and Perfect Parries. Sean Martin reports the shield changing from yellow to orange as a more consistent parry cue than reacting only to the attack-direction indicator. IGN's separate Fair-difficulty lesson shows that cue in one difficulty and settings context; treat the colour as a setting-specific observation.
- Red-skull attacks: dodge sideways rather than backward. The red skull marks an unblockable move, so holding guard is the wrong response.
- Low stamina: disengage and let it recover. A depleted bar removes the safe response you need for the next sequence.
- After the kill: inspect the mangled corpse to start Into the Den. Follow the northwest search area to the logging camp and enter its only small hut with a door; the flat stone marked with an X is inside. Digging up the cache uses one time cycle in the guide's route.
PC Gamer: Ravenous Bear and Into the Den.
Do not merge the Bear Trouble reward with Into the Den
Bear Trouble uses another Ravenous Bear with the same reported moveset. Follow the wind chimes, yellow-wrapped cairns and Focus Mode footprints to the summit. PowerPyx identifies the charge and the rearing ground slam as unblockable; dodge both to the side, then counter after a successful perfect dodge. After the fight, inspect the Uriash body and bloody knife, then inspect the central glyph. Open your inventory and read the copied scroll (Ravenous Flock Manual) before treating the next Ravenous Flock rank as available. The glyph action, not the Into the Den cache, spends two time segments. PowerPyx: Bear Trouble.
The remaining regional roster still needs complete encounter evidence; the linked Munch-Munch and Mihai pages contain selected tactical copy with explicit scope limits. Use the combat guide for shared defence systems and the map guide for region and marker limits.
FAQ
How many bosses are recorded on this site?
The roster has 24 recorded entries: 4 story bosses, 19 regional bosses and 1 unconfirmed candidate. The confirmed in-game total has not been established here; regional placement for The Bloodletter also needs checking.
What are the main story bosses called?
The four Vrakhiri Court bosses are Brencis, Ambrus, Xanthe, and Bakir.
How do I know if a boss attack can be blocked?
Watch for the attack-telegraph icon: a skull means the hit is unblockable (dodge instead), a shield means it can be blocked or parried. The orange shield cue was observed in a Fair-difficulty demonstration, so confirm the colour and timing in your own difficulty and indicator settings.
Does this site have a guide for beating Xanthe or another specific boss?
This page includes Ambrus, Bakir, Xanthe and Forgotten Guardian notes, plus prologue Brencis and Ravenous Bear coverage. They are sourced encounter summaries, not in-house tests, a complete final-boss guide or tactics for all 24 recorded entries.
Do I have to beat Brencis in the prologue?
No. Losing the prologue fight is the expected route and advances the story. Beating the first stage is an optional challenge that leads into Brencis, Grotesque Ascendant.
How do I beat the early Ravenous Bear?
Parry ordinary attacks, dodge sideways when the red skull marks an unblockable attack, and use the orange shield change only as the Fair-difficulty demonstration’s cue; confirm the indicator in your own settings before relying on its colour. Back off when stamina is low.
